Tennis receives Mary Anne O’Donnell Team Academic Award at Notre Dame Day

Steph Thackoordeen and Anna Schmedding of the Notre Dame of Maryland University tennis team, who claimed the highest team GPA of the eight Gator teams.

Baltimore, Md. - The Notre Dame of Maryland University tennis team was presented the Mary Anne O’Donnell Team Academic Award yesterday at Notre Dame Day by President Mary Pat Seurkamp. The tennis team had the highest GPA of Notre Dame's 8 teams in the 2010-2011 school year.

“I'm proud of the tennis team for achieving this high honor and commend the dedication they display to their academic endeavors and their efforts on the court,” said Director of Athletics Erin Foley.
 
The tennis team consists of senior Steph Thackoordeen; juniors Kelcy Bye, Amanda Fansler, Alexandra Osorio, and Megan Satchell; sophomore Megan Kemp; and freshman Anna Schmedding. The Gators went 3-9-1 under third-year Head Coach Meryl Krich ’08. Notre Dame plays next at Trinity Washington University on March 27, 2012.
